Not Another Remake of a Perfectly Good Film

The 1973 Steve McQueen-Dustin Hoffman film made by Franklin J. Schaffner, Papillon, is about to be remade.

Why, oh why? The original isn't perfect but it's a good film, a classy '70s picture that still plays quite well. The indefatigable charisma of McQueen and interesting neurosis of Hoffman coupled together is going to be a difficult combination to beat. Who will be cast? Daniel Craig and Francois Cluzet?

I just don't get it, either.

Truly baffling.
