Daniel Plainview Steps in for Anton Chigurh?

Javier Bardem decided to bail on the long-awaited film adaptation of Nine a little while ago, but according to Michael Fleming at Variety, it sounds like Daniel Day-Lewis will replace him. Nine is a musical Rob Marshall of Chicago fame is preparing to direct this fall, about a famous film director creatively and personally struggling as he juggles the multiple women in his life.

I tried to post this in a comment at LiC but it's not accepting my comments. :(

If this is true, that would really be something. DDL should make more movies, and this would be really a completely different thing for him. I wonder if he ever did any singing on stage. He worked in the theater so he may have had vocal training.

This is a fascinating piece of news, if it's true. Since Variety ran with it, I'm sure the point of the article--that Day-Lewis is close to signing on--is true.

hahaha...I hadn't thought of the Plainview/Chigurh angle Alexander. Nice one.

Ha. It makes me wonder if the film director character isn't secretly a kind of warped sociopath when he's not busily keeping his life together.
